Who Am I?

My name is Shakti Kumar. I am currently pursuing a Masters degree in Mathematical Finance from Columbia University, New York.

I completed my Dual Degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering in 2019. The only reason I took up engineering was because of the mathematics involved in it. I thank my stars for taking up Signal Processing & Communications as my specialization (the other option was VLSI) since it is fully math-oriented.

Wanted to switch to Statistics and do an M.Sc Statistics from IIT Bombay. Tried for 2 years. Sadly, did not make it through. Gave it up and moved on and instead settled for an MBA in Finance from International Mangement Institute (IMI), New Delhi

Finally, here I am at Columbia studying an actual degree in math!!!

Why This Blog?

Most people have a misconception that mathematics is only about equations, theorems and pages upon pages of proofs etc. I hope to dispel a few of these notions and show the fun side of mathematics through my blog

I will be posting regularly(hopefully!!) about interesting stuff from mathematics like its application to real life scenarios, interesting anecdotes about the history of mathematics and anything else of interest I come across.

This blog is a way for me to share whatever little I know about mathematics with this world. Do go through my posts and let me know of your valuable comments and feedbacks.
